Mystifying Map

You will know you have completed the game when you hear a recognisable jingle.
Hints - Where To Start?
The goal of the puzzle is to enter 9 answers with the keyboard and mouse. The Legend in the bottom left has an entry for each puzzle.
This puzzle involves the castle, its flag and its banners.
One letter of the answer comes from each band of colour on the flag.
How many spots are there to hang banners from on the castle?
Label each merlon (the lumps on the castle walls) with the letters A-Z (starting in the top left). This assigns each banner a letter. Read those letters in the order given by the flag to get the regal answer EMPRESS.
This puzzle involves the banners either side of the map.
The shield, swirl and crossed swords are not relevant to the puzzle.
There is a reason these banners were placed as far away from each other as possible.
If you place the banners next to each other they spell FLEE in capital letters from top to bottom.
This puzzle involves the clouds above the volcano.
The clouds to the left are a hint on how to solve this puzzle.
You need five letters, and each cloud has five clumps of marks.
You can overlap the clouds so that the clumps of black marks spell letters. This spells the volcanic answer FIRES.
This puzzle involves the town.
Ignore the buildings, they only exist to distract.
You might want to take a step back from your monitor to solve this one.
The roads of the city spell TAR.
This puzzle involves the labels on the map.
Are the labels on the map accurate?
Read from top to bottom.
Each label is missing a letter. The missing letters, from top to bottom, spell RELAY.
This puzzle concerns the legend. It is the metapuzzle, which means it uses the answers from the other puzzles (which makes it easiest to do last).
You can intereact with this part of the puzzle using your mouse. Try hovering and clicking on letters.
Don't overcomplicate it. Where is the most appropriate place to put an X in each word?
Every answer can have a letter replaced by an X to spell another word. The replaced letters spell MERRY _MAS from top to bottom, which we can complete with another X to get our answer MERRY XMAS (thanks for playing!).
This involves the animal faces across the bottom of the map.
What's beneath each animal face?
Five animals, five letters in the answer. Which letter should you take?
The TIGER, ANT, MOOSE, ELEPHANT and DOG each have some blanks below them to enter their name into. The first letyter of each name is circled. Take those letters in order to get the answer, TAMED.
This puzzle involves the fish in the lake.
Each small school of fish helps you acquire one letter of the answer.
This puzzle was inspired by the design of digital clocks.
Each small school of fish tells you which fish to look at to spell the shape of a letter. For example, removing all purple, yellow and green fish leaves fish in the shape of an 's', the letter clued by the first school. Doing this for each school from left to right spells 'sea', so the answer is SEA.
This puzzle involves the trees in the field.
Each row of trees in the lower region gives you one letter of the answer.
You're looking to create the shapes of letters.
Tracing out a path by following each row of trees as direction spells out the shapes of the letters NeST, so the answer is NEST.

Figured everything out properly except the trees. Now I did figure out the answer, but by metagaming it (figuring out the sixth question gave me everything I needed to google the right word). What was supposed to be the intended way to solve the trees?
I just added the hints and solutions I’d been putting off for a while, hopefully that helps. Here’s an answer to your specific question, too.
You solve the trees by connecting them like a dot-to-dot puzzle. Each row of trees indicates the order you should travel between them to trace out a letter in the 3x3 grid.
I loved the x's, thank you!
still working on 2 :(
stuck in 1 and 6, some hints?
I assume you’ve noticed the where the symbol for 1 also appears.
Gentle Hint for 1
How many turrets are there on the castle? Bear in mind that some a covered up by the banners.
Aggressive Hint for 1
26. All the remaining clues are found on the castle.
I think 6 took me the longest to get, so I don’t blame you for asking for hints!
Gentle Hint for 6
You should have noticed that there are no X’s on the map.
Aggressive Hint for 6
Where can you put X’s?
Nice variety between all the puzzles - I think the trees took me the longest to work out, or maybe the castle. Really fun!
I enjoyed this one! I don’t see a lot of this sort of thing in the Calendar.
I only figured out how to solve the 2nd one after I had brute forced it. Overall very fun. Nice puzzle!
I couldn't understand the 6th on until i hovered my mouse over the words I'd already submitted. Nice puzzle!
I can't find the words of park and x... My brain hurst! :-P
OK, I found the all the words! Nice puzzle! 🎅🎄🎁
Some hints:
Got everything but 3 and 6, wrestled with them for a while, before giving up and looking for help in the comments.
One at a time, my reaction to both of those hints was "but I'm already trying to do that!", for about half a second each, before I suddenly knew the exact thing I was doing wrong. I don't know if that means your hints were too good or exactly perfect, lol.
I like! But there are no other comments here so I can get clues, cos I is stuck halfway!! Grrr lol
Somehow I doubt there's a playthrough on youtube right now lol. Am gonna have to give up. You got me. I had about half of them, the rest, just too cryptic for me.
Read my comment above for a little help :)
